Strong partners for the expansion of charging infrastructure at filling stations
Ultra-fast charging of electric cars will soon be possible everywhere in city centers: ADS-TEC Energy, a leader in battery-buffered fast-charging technology, and Munich-based JOLT Energy announce the opening of a new location at an ESSO filling station in Stuttgart as part of their strategic partnership. Further installations at filling stations in the Netherlands and Germany have already started. Distribution in the USA is in preparation.
Opening of a ChargeBox at Esso in Stuttgart
As part of their strategic partnership, JOLT Energy and ADS-TEC Energy announce that the roll-out of ultra-fast charging stations in major cities in Europe and the United States is gathering pace. The most recent example is the opening of an ultra-fast, battery-buffered charging station, a so-called ChargeBox, on July 26 at an ESSO service station in Stuttgart.
ADS-TEC Energy develops and produces battery-buffered, ultra-fast charging stations that can charge modern electric cars in minutes instead of hours, even on power-limited electricity grids. The Munich-based charging network operator JOLT acquires and operates the charging stations from ADS-TEC Energy.
JOLT has already started using the battery-buffered charging stations: They will be installed at the EG Group's ESSO service stations in Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Dresden, Düsseldorf and Nuremberg, as well as at TAMOIL service stations in the Netherlands. JOLT is also working with ADS-TEC Energy to expand in the United States and plans to install and operate up to 5,000 ultra-fast charging stations over the next five years.
Maurice Neligan, CEO of JOLT Energy Group: “This partnership will enable JOLT to build its charging network in cities and urban centers even faster. For us, speed of deployment and flexibility to provide high quality, ultra-fast charging in large urban centers is critical. ADS-TEC Energy's smart charging and battery technology is best in class in terms of performance, low noise and charging time and is supported by a highly competent team of engineers and specialists. This is a great example of two companies complementing each other to capitalize on growth opportunities in an emerging and dynamic market.”
Thomas Speidel, CEO ADS-TEC Energy: “We look forward to working with JOLT to enable widespread adoption of e-mobility in Europe and the US through super-fast charging in almost any location. JOLT's management team has outstanding expertise, and the sales and operating concept is flexible and innovative. The fact that JOLT has been able to attract TAMOIL and one of the world's leading independent convenience retailers like EG Group speaks for itself.”
The exceptional performance is reflected in concrete evaluations of individual charging stations by customers. Both the charging speed per charging process and the energy throughput of significantly more than 140 charges per week (around 6 MWh energy throughput) exceed previous expectations of the ChargeBox. And without any noticeable drop in charging power for each individual charging process. This is the result of a usage study in the Stuttgart area, where a disproportionately high number of Porsche Taycans with a peak charging capacity of 270 kW are charging at a ChargeBox at a public filling station. This exemplary proof of concept, which can also be applied to other charging stations, is boosting customer inquiries.
The partners of ADS-TEC Energy are consistently positive about the interim results.
Thomas Speidel, CEO of ADS-TEC Energy, says: “The fact that our products can demonstrate their full strength in real-life applications is the best feedback for us. We are pleased to receive extremely positive feedback from our successful CPO partners, such as JOLT Energy, with regard to their future plans and business development.”
Maurice Neligan, CEO of charge point operator JOLT Energy, is optimistic: “We are continuing to expand our market leadership for ultra-fast charging in cities and have already installed seven charging stations in Munich. With the market launch of the new MerlinOne Charger with digital advertising displays, we are opening up new locations and have equipped an office complex in Munich with a JOLT “Charge Park” for the first time. There is huge interest from petrol stations, supermarkets and real estate companies, and we are seeing extremely dynamic market development. Fast charging in cities will further accelerate the ramp-up of electromobility and become the key to the success of the powertrain revolution.”
