For years, NXT 50five has been installing and operating the high-performance charging solutions ChargeBox and ChargePost from ADS-TEC Energy, for example at Energy Hubs or at TotalEnergies gas stations.

The first three public fast-charging stations under the MRA-Electric concession are the all-in-one solution ChargePost, featuring an integrated high-capacity battery storage system and two charging points. The charging power reaches up to 300 kilowatts. They were installed in Amstelveen, a municipality with 95,000 residents in the province of North Holland.

These municipal charging stations are a milestone for NXT 50five. They bring minute-fast charging to the places where people live, thereby increasing the overall appeal of e-mobility.

Sustainable driving is becoming increasingly accessible in the Dutch municipality of Amstelveen

Floor Gordon, Alderman for Sustainability of the municipality of Amstelveen, officially inaugurated the fast-charging station on Asserring in December 2024. It is located in front of a large apartment building. Following the already active fast-charging stations on Eleanor Rooseveltlaan and Patrimoniumlaan, this ChargePost is the third in Amstelveen.

Gordon emphasized the significance of the new fast-charging stations, which can be connected anywhere without complex grid upgrades: “Amstelveen has ambitious sustainability goals, and this fast-charging station helps us achieve them. We are not only making electric driving easier for our residents, but also for visitors and businesses. This location, offering round-the-clock charging, makes electric driving even more attractive here.”

Starting point of the MRA-Electric fast-charging network

The installation of the three fast-charging stations in Amstelveen marks the starting point of a large-scale project to build 600 fast-charging stations, commissioned by MRA-Electric and the participating municipalities in the provinces of North Holland, Utrecht, and Flevoland. In addition to these three stations, NXT 50five already has 48 more locations within this concession in preparation.

Fast charging despite grid congestion

Limited grid capacity is becoming an increasing challenge in the MRA-Electric area as well. The fast-charging stations from ADS-TEC Energy enable ultra-fast charging despite limited grid capacity and can be easily connected to existing weak power connections. The integrated batteries in the charging stations are charged at low power and deliver high power when charging a vehicle. They function like a large power bank.

Tijn Bartelings, Project Manager for Fast Charging at MRA-Electric: “NXT 50five plays an important role in delivering accessible and reliable fast-charging infrastructure within the MRA-Electric concession. Their focus on innovative solutions, such as the installation of battery-buffered fast-charging stations like the one on Asserring in Amstelveen, aligns perfectly with our vision for a sustainable and future-proof charging network in the Northwest region. This creates a solid foundation for a future where electric driving becomes easier and more accessible for all residents and visitors of the region.”

Growing demand for fast-charging points in Amstelveen

With the installation of the first three fast-charging stations, NXT 50five is responding to the growing demand for fast-charging solutions in Amstelveen. “The deployment of the first fast-charging stations in Amstelveen is a major milestone for NXT 50five. By collaborating with ADS-TEC Energy, MRA-Electric, and the municipality, we can provide the residents of Amstelveen with reliable fast-charging stations that make electric driving even more accessible,” says René Driessen, Business Development Manager at NXT 50five.
